Here at GT Creative we work our little socks off to make inspiring and functional websites and digital promotional material for our clients. For the initial meeting through to the final product we work with our clients to ensure we are able to make their visions comes to life in the very best way possible. Our clients usually have an excellent idea of what they want to achieve from a new website, social media campaign or new promotional brochure, but ever so occasionally we have to give them a gentle nudge in the right direction.
We will happily give our advice on all aspects of web development and digital design, mostly because it’s the thing we love doing the most. But also, we offer advice because we want our clients to be 100% satisfied with the finished product and to see it work for them.
In this weeks blog, we’ve asked some of the design whizz kids at Green Tornado what little extra help our clients could offer them in order to ensure they get it right first time, every time.
What does our graphics team need?
“Think about the images you want to use. It’s frustrating when we are sent images that are unusable. As a designer, it is my job to make products or services look as aesthetically appealing as possible, and poor quality images are very hard to work with. Photo’s taken on smartphones may be great on social media, but they don’t work well on websites or in print. If a client needs it, we can put them in touch with a photographer who can come and take exceptional photographs that will work well across all platforms.” Barry Davis, Senior Graphic Designer
What does our editorial and advertising team need?
“I love it when our clients are excited about their product, service or event, but sometimes less is more when it comes to copy. We only have a limited space to work with in print and squeezing too much text in can ruin an adverts appeal. We have a copywriter in the office who can help to reduce the copy and keep it concise. I like to recommend this service to all my clients if I think the text they have supplied may harm the overall impact of their advert or editorial” Sarah Emmings, Editor
What do our web developers need?
“Making websites is my life! I like to do the very best for every one of my clients, and spend time getting to know exactly what they want so I can make it happen for them. What I do find extra helpful is if they have a really clear idea of what they want in their minds eye. I ask my clients to research other websites or companies on the market and make of note of what they do and don’t like. This helps ensure we are all singing from the same song sheet from the get-go! Oh, and also I ask them to not use the Comic Sans font – it’s dated and childlike and not suitable for a grown up website. Other than than, I enjoy making their visions come to life” Lauren Clark, Web Developer
All of the above are points to be considered by anyone considering instructing anyone else to design their website or promotional material for them. Even if you are making your own, great images, concise text and a clear design concept from the outset all work together to make an epic end product.
